Artisan Bread Making Courses based in Wiltshire

Enjoy ½ or full day courses discovering about and then making your own rustic loaves. learn about a real bread approach which is baking without additives and preservative and using overnight sponges, different fermentation techniques and hand moulding. 

Our ½ day bread courses are approximately 3 ½ hours long and cost £45. During your time here in Little Cheverell, near Devizes in Witshire, you will learn about and make two different white loaves from an overnight sponge; a classic white cob and the mouth watering Sea salt and Rosemary focaccia. You will then produce a delicious specialty flavoured bread which could be beetroot and oregano, spinach and parmesan or a whole host of other delicious and seasonal flavours. To finish for those with a sweet tooth James’ special Chelsea bun recipe will see you leaving with full tummies and smiles on your faces.

Country Cottage Cakes and Bakery is based in Wiltshire are keen to help you develop your skills and intensify your passion about baking, so if you have something specific you would like to learn, e.g how to make gluten free products, or a particular type or flavour of bread contact us to discuss if this is something we could arrange for you.

Tea, coffee, all utensils, equipment and supplies required are provided and you get to take home everything you make to show off to and share with your friends and family (if you can bare to share :o) 

Our full day bread courses are approximately 9am - 4pm and cost £75. During this time you will cover everything covered in the ½ day course but also spend some time understanding the intricacies of Sour Dough for those wanting to learn about and use natural leavens in their own home (creating your own wild yeast / starter). We will show you how to follow a natural process and be able to adapt this process in your own kitchen to make your own sour dough. You will the leave with a sample of Country Cottage Cakes and Bakery’s own leaven / starter which you can feed and follow the instructions provided by us to enable you to make a life times worth of sour dough’s in your own home.

With the full day courses we will bake all your loaves in our specially designed and built wood fired bread oven in the garden (weather dependant). 

We will also provide you with a light bakers lunch including sampling some of the freshly baked bread made in the morning.
